CANCEL·LAT
Cancel·lat is a project born from a personal need to give shape to profound and long-standing ideas, with the ultimate goal of making a positive impact on society while laying the groundwork for an independent and meaningful professional life. This initiative represents a turning point, allowing me to transform a creative drive into a solid platform for social and environmental change.
Within the context of the master’s program I am currently pursuing, Cancel·lat might initially seem unrelated to the formal objectives of the course. However, I am leveraging the tools, spaces for reflection, professionals and resources provided by the program to go beyond the academic requirements and develop this project. The aim is not only to complete the assigned tasks but to integrate them into a broader narrative: the creation of a multidisciplinary project that enables me to conceptualize and produce the first works, actions, and working methodologies. This process also helps me organize my ideas, design a structured "map," and establish a foundation that I can follow once the program is complete.
Mision and Values
Cancel·lat is a multidisciplinary creative and ethical studio with a clear mission: to use creativity as a tool to challenge power structures and gain resoruces and influence from it. At its core, Cancel·lat revolves around a single, powerful concept, selling a message: "Canceling the Elites", a metaphor for questioning, exposing, and transforming the unjust and exploitative practices of those who accumulate excessive power and resources at the expense of the common good.
Through artistic works, symbolic products, audiovisual content, and activist interventions, Cancel·lat seeks to bring to light, in a mainstream yet disruptive way, the unethical tactics used by the wealthiest 1% to consolidate resources, influence, and control. The project critically deconstructs the ultracapitalist model we are all currently embedded in, exposing how it prioritizes profit over people and the planet. However, rather than simply denouncing the system from the outside, Cancel·lat strategically engages with it, using its own tools to accumulate resources and influence.
Playing the "capitalist game" to Beat the System
The core realization behind Cancel·lat is that directly fighting against the existing power structures, which are deeply entrenched and reinforced by economic monopolies, political control, and media influence, is nearly impossible through traditional resistance alone. The sheer scale of corporate and elite dominance means that independent initiatives lack the financial and structural means to create a meaningful counterforce. Real change requires power, and in a system where power is dictated by capital, reach, and control over narratives, Cancel·lat embraces an unconventional approach:
Extracting wealth, attention, and influence from the system itself
Reinvesting these gains into projects that actively dismantle harmful structures
Providing tangible alternatives that empower people to disengage from exploitative cycles
Rather than positioning itself as an outsider attempting to dismantle the system from the fringes, Cancel·lat "plays the game" but on its own terms; leveraging marketing, branding, mass media, and consumer culture to infiltrate and subvert the very mechanisms that sustain elite dominance.
Beyond Exposure: Building Real Alternatives
Cancel·lat does not seek to simply criticize capitalism from a distance; its goal is to use the same capitalist strategies of influence, visibility, and resource accumulation to lay the foundations for a genuine alternative. By first growing its movement, brand, and economic base, Cancel·lat ensures it has the structural power to:
Fund creative and disruptive projects that expose systemic flaws
Develop tangible solutions and economic models that serve as real alternatives
Create accessible ways for people to engage outside the current system
The ultimate objective is not just awareness but actionable change, where Cancel·lat transitions from deconstructing the system to actively constructing a better one. The irony lies in using capitalism’s own tools to fund its disruption.
A Bold Challenge to the Status Quo
If "they" want us to play their capitalist game, so be it, but we will do so on our own terms. We will expose it, challenge it, grow Cancel·lat and its movement, and, once we reach the necessary scale, we will redirect those resources towards projects that allow people to step outside the current system and engage with a new model of participation.
Cancel·lat is not just an artistic or activist initiative; it is a long-term, strategic movement designed to infiltrate, subvert, and ultimately reshape the landscape of power, consumption, and societal structures.
-Can we construct a world where success is not based on individual accumulation of wealth and power, but rather on collective growth, equity, and innovation?
-Can we foster technological and societal progress while ensuring that no one is left behind and that the natural world is protected instead of exploited?
The works and products of Cancel·lat are not mere objects of consumption but vehicles of transformation. Each piece conveys a powerful message and encourages collective reflection and action, making the capitalist system itself an unwitting ally in the push for change.
Ultimately, Cancel·lat is about proving that resistance and creation can coexist. That it is possible to live, thrive, and build something revolutionary while simultaneously working within and against the system.
And yes, I want to make a living from Cancel·lat, not as a contradiction, but as proof that it is possible to sustain oneself through creativity and activism without compromising the vision of a better world. It is also my personal way of breaking away from the traditional workforce, the very system Cancel·lat critiques and ultimately gaining the freedom to explore and create without limitations.
Summari
Cancel·lat is more than just a project; it is a call to action and a proposal to rethink how we live, work, and interact with the world. It balances criticism of the system with the strategic use of its own tools, aiming to challenge existing structures while extractin the maximum of resources and exposure as possible.
At the same time, Cancel·lat is also a personal journey, an "excuse" to detach from the conventional working life and embrace the freedom to create, experiment, and collaborate with brilliant and inspiring professionals. This project is not only about making an impact on the world, or at least trying, but also about building a life that aligns with my values, ambitions, and creative vision.
We believe Cancel·lat has the potential to be much more than just a project; it can become a movement, a brand, and a philosophy. The key to its success lies in execution; how well we translate these ideas into tangible actions, compelling content, and meaningful engagement.
However, it is crucial to clarify that Cancel·lat is not a political project, nor should it be misunderstood as a "communist" initiative, as some reactionary groups might claim. This is not about left or right, it is about recognizing the urgent need to do things better, for the benefit of everyone and the planet. If the current system is broken, then it is time to rethink and rebuild it.
If executed properly, Cancel·lat could be a disruptive force, reshaping how people think about power, consumerism, and activism. That is why we want to leverage the master’s program and its mentors as an initial platform, to lay the foundations for Cancel·lat to evolve into a professional reality and a powerful agent of change. To achieve this, we seek the guidance and expertise of the IAAC professionals, ensuring that the project is developed with the right strategies, ethical considerations, and long-term vision.
