# HELLO TO NEW BEGINNINGS!

Before starting this master I was at a point in my life where I felt frustrated with the direction my career was taking. I have always been someone who needs constant new stimuli, and the idea of sitting eight hours a day in front of a screen doing the same tasks over and over was slowly killing me. I didn't like how the traditional job market works, always pushing people, stay in the same role and repeat the same process for years... I felt like I was exchanging my time, my youth, for someone that doesn't care about me, just profit and materialistic income. I felt trapped.

That frustration made me stop and think about what I actually wanted to do with my life. I decided to bet on something different, a hybrid profile, someone who can move between different fields and understand a bit of everything instead of becoming an expert in just one thing. I believe that in the future this kind of profile, people who can imagine, design and actually build things with their own hands, will be more valued than someone who only masters a single skill. Being able to jump from one discipline to another, connect ideas that don't usually go together, felt like the direction I wanted to take. I wanted freedom.

That is why I chose MDEF. Not only because of its focus on speculative design and imagining better futures for everyone, but also because it gave me the chance to think about my own future. I wanted to learn tools like digital fabrication, electronics and storytelling, things that would let me go from an idea to something real by myself, without depending on other people to make it happen. Having all these tools together felt like the closest thing to real freedom, being able to envision something, design it and produce it on my own.

My goal was never just to gain knowledge, but to have the time and space to rethink where my life was going. I needed to step out of the routine I was stuck in and give myself room to question things, even if that meant going against the current and taking a path that not many people around me understood at the time.
